What is The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages

Learning, Teaching, Assessment,  abbreviated in English as CEFR, CEF, or CEFRL, is a guideline used to describe achievements of learners of foreign languages across Europe and, increasingly, in other countries. The CEFR is also intended to make it easier for educational institutions and employers to evaluate the language qualifications of candidates for education admission or employment. Its main aim is to provide a method of learning, teaching, and assessing that applies to all language in Europe. Here are the abilities 👇

 

BASIC USER  A1 🚁

  • Can understand and use familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases to meet concrete needs
  • Can introduce himself and others and ask questions
  • Can ask and answer questions about personal details such as where he lives, people he knows, and things he owns
  • Can interact in a simple manner provided the other person speaks slowly and clearly and is ready to help

BASIC USER A2 ✈️

  • Can understand sentences and frequently used expressions that are most relevant to him/her (e.g. very basic personal and family information, shopping, local geography, employment).
  • Can communicate in simple and routine tasks that require a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine topics.
  • He can simply describe his past, his immediate environment and the extent of his problems in his priority areas of need.

INDEPENDENT USER B1 🚀

  • Regularly at work, school, free time, etc. Can understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar issues encountered.
  • Can handle most situations that are likely to arise when traveling in an area where the language is spoken.
  • Can produce simple, connected texts on topics familiar or of personal interest.
  • Can describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes and ambitions, and briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.

INDEPENDENT USER B2 🚀

  • Can understand the main ideas of complex texts on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in their field of expertise.
  • Can interact with the fluency and spontaneity of interacting with users of the target language as regularly as possible, without straining either party.
  • Can produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of topics and explain a point of view on a topical issue by giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options.

PROFICIENT USER C1 🛸

  • Can understand longer texts of a wide range of difficulty and recognize implicit meaning.
  • Can express himself fluently and spontaneously without searching for expressions too much.
  • Can use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes.
  • Can produce clear, well-structured, detailed texts on complex topics by demonstrating controlled use of text organization patterns, connectors, and cohesive elements.

PROFICIENT USER C2 🛸

  • Can understand almost all text types.
  • Can reconstruct information, arguments and explanations from different oral and written sources and summarize them in a coherent presentation.
  • Can express himself spontaneously, very fluently and precisely, recognizing finer distinctions of meaning even in more complex situations.
